As the Research and Evaluation Manager for UCSF's Seligman Research Team, Asher O'Donnell supports planning and execution of the team's research and evaluation strategies, focusing on oversight of projects examining the impact of Food is Medicine interventions on food insecurity and health. Prior to joining the team, Asher managed a portfolio of research projects in the Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at UCSF that addressed the intersection between social determinants of health and chronic disease health outcomes in underserved communities. A highlight from his time in the Division of HIV was managing randomized controlled trials testing food and nutrition education interventions in partnership with the nonprofit Project Open Hand, a leader in Food is Medicine services and efforts to advance research and policy to improve access to healthy food as a part of patient care. Asher holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in biochemistry and a BS in Women's and Gender Studies from Stony Brook University.
