Who We Are
The Seligman Research Team at UCSF's Action Research Center (ARC) for Health Equity is committed to creating communities where healthy food is affordable and easily accessible by everyone. Led by Hilary Seligman, MD MAS, the team conducts strategic research focused on policies and programs impacting the food environment and food affordability. Their work is at the forefront of documenting food and nutrition insecurity as major drivers of poor health and of implementing and evaluating programs and policies to address food insecurity as a mechanism to improve health. The Seligman Research Team is primarily focused on research and program operations in the following areas.

Seligman Research Team

Hilary Seligman, MD MAS
Hilary Seligman, MD, MAS is Professor at the University of California San Francisco with appointments in the Departments of Medicine and of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
Dr. Seligman is an expert in food insecurity and its health implications across the life course.

Meet the team
The Seligman Research Team is dedicated to implementing and evaluating programs and policies to address food and nutrition insecurity as a mechanism to improve health outcomes.
Since 2015, the team has operated Vouchers 4 Veggies, one of the nation’s largest produce prescription programs. They also conduct strategic research and provide technical expertise to help advance and grow the field of food is medicine.
